At Belly of Love we have chosen to do things differently for some time now. As part of our business policy we now ascribe to the Green Marketing and Australian Trade Practises Act 1974, when it comes to our Green Marketing Campaign to ensure the accuracy of our advertising. We acknowledge that more and more customers are looking for environmentally friendly alternatives when purchasing, and want to ensure our customers are getting what they paid for. For more info about your rights go to the ACCC to know your rights as a consumer.
We formerly called ourselves 'The All Natural Belly Casting Alternative', but we see now how this title could be interpreted as misleading. Our kits do contain some synthetic plastics, which are far from All Natural.
Following is a run down of what is in our 'Naturally Different Belly Cast Kits'.
Our plaster is vacuum sealed in plastic bags. We do this to ensure our plaster stays as fresh as possible. It is not uncommon for plaster to 'preset' due to humidity and air conditioning.
We include a large plastic dropsheet in our kits. The dropsheet enables easy clean up and can be reused once you have made your belly cast using it. Just give it a shake then a quick rinse and leave it to dry. Use it again when you decorate your belly cast.
Our casting creme & gesso primer are packed in plastic containers. They are easily recycled (check the number inside the Mobius Loop ie the recycling symbol, the lower the number the easier the item is to recycle, ours have the #1) and can be washed and reused. We do not use glass as it can be hazardous to send in the mail.
So what does make us Naturally Different & Earth Friendly?
Our plaster is made from natural materials
Our casting creme is made from Cocoa & Shea butter with no added synthetic chemicals or petroleum jelly
Our packaging (box & containers) are made from easily recyclable and reusable materials
Our Gesso is non toxic & Australian Made
Our instructions are now printed on recycled paper
We use non glossy marketing materials and labels
Since pioneering an Earth Friendly Belly Casting product we have seen other belly casting / belly masking companies follow suit. A large overseas belly mask company has caught on and now uses an environmentally friendly plaster gauze too, many belly casters in Australia are now using natural casting cremes rather than petroleum jelly and some have even changed their packaging.
